WE HAVE A NEW HOME!!

805, 807, and 811 MARTIN LUTHER KING AVE., FLINT, MI 48503

The mission of B Light Restoration Center

is to provide holistic services, tools, and resources

which empower individuals to exchange old, self destructive ways of surviving

for new, self sustaining ways of thriving.

B LIGHT RESTORATION CENTER WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES ON NOV. 3, 2015.

We currently are working to reopen at our new location.

Until the building is remodeled and open, our services are limited.

Breakfast is currently served on Monday and Tuesday from 8:30 am - 11 am to over 30 individuals daily.

Bible study is held on Tuesdays at 10:00 am.

Additional structured activities will be added December 1, 2017.

Shammah Outreach and Consulting Services has begun to take the calling found in Isaiah 61:4 seriously.  Flint, Michigan has approximately 33% abandoned properties (depending which source is cited).  This issue known as blight is seen as a liability to the city, and leaves a negative image in mind when seen.  However, Shammah Outreach has begun to go into abandoned properties and salvage items that can be used in remodeling projects or turned into something new.  In addition, old clothing items are used to re-purpose making new items, comforters, back packs, and more.  The name for this program is "B Light", turning the negative into something positive and beginning one house and individual at a time with steps to restoring the city.

The individuals who are invited to make items, are those who have a desire to come out of negative situations they are in and reach their highest potential or volunteers wishing to donate their creativity to a worthwhile cause.  The majority of individuals served are those who find their "home" on the street.  The goal of B Light Restoration Center is to give individuals an opportunity to have structured things to do that will empower them to refrain from street life.  After attending classes (G.E.D., nutrition, parenting, relationship, anger management, Bible studies, etc.) volunteering, or following through with their individualized goals, these individuals will be able to have materials given to them which they then can create items to sell, receiving commission for for their creations.  See a sampling of items made in the pictures below.

In addition to transforming the old into new, BLRC also has a Community Closet available for those in need, has nonperishable food available, serves coffee and snacks Mondays and Tuesday, peanut butter and jelly for sandwiches for lunch, and serves as a warming center in the winter with structured activities.

SOCS is currently in the process of networking, fundraising, and implementing an expansion plan to include licensed deconstruction teams and other job creating opportunities for those they serve.
